HashKey is first Asian Web3 firm to join DTCC’s tokenization working group

Marking a key regulatory development, HashKey has become the first Asian digital asset service provider to be added to the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation’s(DTCC) Digital Assets Advisory Services Industry Working Group, marking a notable step for the exchange operator’s presence in traditional finance circles.

The group now counts more than 100 global financial institutions and asset managers among its members, according to an announcement HashKey made on Wednesday. HashKey’s addition places it alongside major Wall Street names such as JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Nasdaq among others.

When DTCC first unveiled the working group publicly in May, it listed more than 50 participating organizations. The higher membership count now cited by HashKey suggests new members have joined since that initial rollout, though DTCC itself has yet to release an updated roster reflecting the full current membership.

The working group was established with the goal of bridging conventional financial infrastructure with decentralized finance systems. As part of that effort, DTCC intends to roll out access to tokenized securities this October.

The push toward tokenization has already received regulatory backing. Back in December, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission(SEC) granted a “no action” letter to a DTCC subsidiary, clearing the way for it to launch a new tokenization service for securities markets.

Following that decision, SEC Chairman Paul Atkins signaled that more changes could be on the horizon. In a December 12 post on X, he said the approval for DTCC’s pilot program was “only the beginning,” adding that the agency would weigh introducing an innovation exemption to help developers begin “transitioning our markets onchain” without getting weighed down by “cumbersome regulatory requirements.”

Momentum behind the initiative continued into the summer. On July 15, 2026, DTCC completed its first round of tokenized transactions carried out in a live production environment using assets held in its custody.
